Appointments

Routine appointments

Our routine appointments are available to book on the day only. These are on a first come first serve basis.

Bookings can be made over the telephone. Lines open at 8am.

We are currently experiencing a period of high demand so you may find that our phone lines are busier than usual. You may wish to contact us at 12pm when our Enhanced Access Appointments are released.

We offer both face-to-face and telephone consultations. However, this may vary if we have fewer clinical staff available due to holidays, sickness and home-visits.

Our receptionists are following a new triage system and so will ask you a number of questions to ensure you are directed to the right service. This could include the Pharmacy for minor ailments. Please provide as much information as possible.

Often, we will direct you to one of our Advanced Nurse Practitioner’s (ANP) who can deal with a vast number of ailments and medical conditions. For example: joint pain, asthma, eczema, fevers, infections, mental health and medication. If you have any questions regarding ANP’s please contact reception.

You may not always be able to talk to your preferred clinician but we endeavour to meet your requests where possible.

The NHS App

The NHS App can be downloaded (visit our Home page) to order repeat prescriptions or view your medical records if you’ve allowed yourself full access.

Cancelling your appointment

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason, please inform us as soon as possible so we can allocate it to another patient.

Submit an online PATCHES consultation

Alternatively you can contact a Doctor online by submitting an online triage form which is called PATCHS. Please use PATCHS if you have a non, urgent medical problem.

Enhanced Access

As part of Brighter Birkenhead Primary Care Network (PCN), we’re able to offer Enhanced Access Appointments.

These appointments are released daily at 12pm to see a GP or an Advanced Nurse Practitioner between the hours of 2pm and 8pm (Monday to Friday). Appointments are also available on a Saturday between 9am and 1pm.

These appointments are for any new urgent problems and are available in limited numbers. Enhanced Access Appointments can only be booked by speaking to our reception team.

Please note: Enhanced Access Appointments will be at St. Catherine’s Surgery (2nd Floor) and not at the practice.

Home visits

Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible. In this respect, if you do need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception before 10:30.

You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the doctor to schedule house calls

You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
